Changes
- Enemy Spawner has now been changed to always put the enemies within the visible camera area. Before, the enemies would spawn at a random point along a rectangle at the edge of the initial viewport. This change makes the game more dynamic and likely more difficult.
- I scaled up all the sprites in the game by about 20%. The larger world means there's more space, and so the objects can be larger. This should make seeing objects easier, but it's a little harder to dodge them.
- Conceding the two points above, the minimum number of enemies on the screen has been reverted to 3 (from 4) and the maximum number of enemies is back to 6 (from 8).
Talk to me
- When I play this game, I find the act of surviving the first five waves to be not that difficult. I typically clear this segment and I expect that to get even easier tomorrow when I add the Shield pickup. How frequently are you dying in these initial waves?
- I think I need to retool some of the shop prices, or something. I think the economy is a bit off. The first few waves can be survived easily without buying any upgrades, which means the player should save money and then reroll for the (extremely busted) Projectile Count upgrade. I need to think about this and could certainly use a lot of feedback.
- Once I hit Tier 2, though, I find myself taking a ton of damage. Even if my build is putting out a lot of damage, the replacement enemies overwhelm me. I'm considering putting a delay between an enemy dying and spawning a new one. Now that I've typed it that might be a really good idea. Even if you're allowed to go to 0 (or 1?) enemy on screen, and then 2-3 seconds later it spawns a group. Something to provide some ebb and flow to the waves within the round.
- I am thinking about adding a system where, when the round ends, you auto-collect some number (half?) of the coins that are still on the ground. You killed that enemy, you deserve credit for it.
Ok thank you I love you I'll add the Shield tomorrow.
